Equipment News & Updates for June 2007
White Paper
The White Paper, discussed in our last update, is on file with DARPA. It will be reviewed, with results to be let in December of this year.
Georgia Tech/Mohawk R&D Contract
Georgia received approximately 300 applications for research & development funding for textiles. Aqua Resources was ranked number ten; unfortunately, Georgia only funded the top eight slots. Since we did not get the funding for this particular project, we are pursuing other funding avenues that look promising for our textile application.
New Product Produced:
Aqua Resources has successfully produced Copper & Nickel platelets.
US Military
There are several updates regarding potential collaboration with various agencies at Hurlburt AFB, their interest in our product is many-fold
DC Meeting Follow up
A meeting that began in DC has led to several contacts in the DOD complex with a variety of questions and possible uses of our products. We are actively pursuing these on several fronts.
Interest in Potential New Fiber Application
As we reported elsewhere in this update, Georgia did not fund the R&D textile project with Mohawk Industries. However, we have been asked to meet with a contractor, and a researcher who is doing research and development into new fibers for military clothing. This meeting is scheduled to take place in June at the Aqua Resources office on Stafford Drive.
R&L Engineering Update
The Dryer equipment was delivered on Monday, May 7. So far, it works great and we are able to make small quantities with the dryer. R&L Engineering is “working hard” on the cells for our Stafford Plant and expect to have them in-house within six to eight weeks.
Dominion Chemical Plant Delayed
Delays in receiving the variable data for the Petersburg plant design along with equipment delays (the dryer and the centrifuge) have put us somewhat behind our tentative schedule. This has resulted in a delay in bringing the plant online. Regretfully, this will delay the plant opening until next year.
The management firm we have hired to run the plant is doing a good job for us. They are working hard to get things ready for the next generation of equipment due to arrive this summer
